As a wine expert, I have developed a deep interest in the wines of the Empordà region. This passion has led me to explore the area extensively, visiting numerous vineyards and deepening my understanding of its unique environment. Through these experiences, I have gained a detailed understanding of the wine production process, with a special focus on sustainable practices and respect for the environment.
During my visits, I have observed how many wineries in the Empordà region are embracing organic farming techniques, reducing the use of pesticides and chemical fertilisers, and promoting biodiversity in the vineyards. Responsible water use, the implementation of regenerative viticulture practices and the reduction of the carbon footprint are fundamental aspects for these wineries committed to the future of the planet.
Moreover, I have become familiar with indigenous varieties such as Monastrell, Garnatxa Negra, Carinyena and Garnatxa Blanca, which are cultivated in accordance with natural cycles and adapted to the region’s climatic conditions, thereby minimising environmental impact. This commitment to sustainability not only preserves the richness of the Empordà landscape but also reflects in the purity and authenticity of the wines.
The commitment to sustainability is reflected in integrated pest management techniques and the promotion of biodiversity, ensuring ecological conservation and influencing wine quality through parameters such as polyphenol concentration and acidity balance.
